1. A way to transclude reply contents. Currently, a reader or post writer can click the reply anchor to teleport there and that's it. Threads can get long, and complicated conversations will necessarily involve chaining the context of several previous replies, possible out of order, so the current behavior is not enough to make reading trivial in the future.
I don't have a specific solution for this, but there are things you can try. For example, reply anchors revealing their authorship and corresponding text when hovered with the mouse would be interesting, and should be implementable while retaining the static served pages.
2. An element that brings users back to page top and page bottom. For users who have capped scroll velocity and no home/end keys.
3. Userstyles for the user settings screen. Instead of bothering you if the default formatting is causing somebody visibility issues/they want the avatar element bigger or whatever, a user can just do it themselves and have the forum pages served with it.

i think we need a "remember me" function or something similar so that the auth token won't reset, requiring logging in again after a few hours

What about signatures? On most other forums users can add signatures (text or image) to their posts.

Perhaps a second "confirm password" box when registering an account? Would prevent a lot of botched registrations, including my own (thanks for that reset link!)
At this stage in the forum's life it's probably best to avoid proliferating boards simply because they spread the activity too thin. However, a "random" or "off-topic" board to contain shitposts and forum games may be needed in the future.

1. Markdown. This is more standard than the current custom markup. Also you get lists, tables, etc. Might be slightly difficult to add support for the "reference a post" markup.

3. A quick way to quote a post. e.g. click on the post and the reply box is pre-filled with the blockquoted text of the post and the the reference to the post number.
4. More advanced: add an "n new posts" indicator to threads the user has visited, and clicking on it takes you to the oldest post since you last viewed the thread. This lets you easily see which threads you have to catch up on.

I don't know if it's possible or already implemented. But perhaps notification at the top of the bar if somebody has replied to one's post? or even replies within a thread one has started (with an option of turning the notification's off?)
