I do wish they had stuck with the Slipspace engine and used more of Halo Infinite's animations and AI. The Reach animations feel.... weird at their worst. And the Hunters fucking suck to fight.
2 TohsakaPsycho 2026/07/27(Mon) 21:16:43I just finished the main original campaign, haven’t touched the new levels. I have a lot of thoughts lmao. I keep on saying I miss a lot of Halo 5’s gunplay and I don’t know lack of multiplayer whatsoever just feels wrong

3 TohsakaPsycho 2026/07/27(Mon) 21:30:05A lot of the cutscenes are a bit all over the place. 343i seemed a bit too eager to put cutscenes where CE and CEA had opted to just let Cortana say her thing. The opening cutscene for Installation 04 was particularly egregious in feeling like if you asked the Borderlands Devs to make a cutscene. But yeah some of these felt as if they had their emotional depth stripped away.
Gunplay wise, I'd argue that kill markers, replacing the health system with that of Halo 2/3, and introducing the SMG was fine. Elites feel like they got nerfed while obviously Hunters got faster and Grunts feel like they now got an amazing throwing arm.
Aesthetically the flood missions are very well done though I know some people who are still annoyed by the color palette changes from 2001.
Sprint was a lot less disruptive than I thought it was. Honestly I only ended up using it a few times during the Maw, though it's kinda annoying that you have to find a skull just to disable it.
Uhh... adding Pure Forms was certainly a choice but fairly decently balanced all things considered, very surprised they didn't let them transform.
It was probably for difficulty reasons but slightly disappointed with the lack of some of a high definition reimagining macabre flood infections. I do think the Flood has introduced a new challenge in allowing 2/3's concept of revival which does make you have to play a bit more management with the popcorns
