To expand on my take that I made on twitter, I think the future that AI bros want for the Mathematical world will be something equivalent to Talmud study.

If they win then we will end up discussing the works and proofs of God (AI) and trying to reason and logic through them. Rather than doing anything "new" we will have to understand the black box and its fuzzy mechanisms, we become Talmid Chakham.

I've seen someone describe Tao's view as "Tao is frustrated that AI companies are only doing half the job. instead, they should go all the way and do a thorough enough job to leave mathematicians unemployed with nothing left to do."
