HISTORICAL MATERIALISM/MARXISM GENERAL

in General

1 serf_avenger
Currently reading:
1844 Manuscripts (second read, notating in Zotero)
Selected articles from the Theoretical Review (marxism.org EROL)

Currently wondering:
If anyone has any resources specifically on the themes of clandestinity, anonymity, fiction, subterfuge/diversion and the performance of mystique in the history of the Khmer Rouge.
About intelligence-counterintelligence/insurgency-counterinsurgency history and tradecraft/guerilla strategy as fields of inquiry for historical materialism, in general.
About Sansepolcrismo, national syndicalism and fascism as a reflex of the anti-Marxist 'lefts' of the interwar period.

Links to current stack of articles from the Theoretical Review [these are all relatively short; would maybe be productive to reformat them and compile them into a single document?]:

I'm not sure if there are any Marxists on the site

If I had to suggest something, I'd suggest "Le Marxisme" by Henri Lefebvre, although I'm pretty sure it's only available in french.

I'd consider myself a historical materialist at the very least.

I would say I'm a half-breed or heterodox-ish Marxist, but I would also say out of these three questions:

"Currently wondering:
If anyone has any resources specifically on the themes of clandestinity, anonymity, fiction, subterfuge/diversion and the performance of mystique in the history of the Khmer Rouge.
About intelligence-counterintelligence/insurgency-counterinsurgency history and tradecraft/guerilla strategy as fields of inquiry for historical materialism, in general.
About Sansepolcrismo, national syndicalism and fascism as a reflex of the anti-Marxist 'lefts' of the interwar period."

The first two are really for a guy like @Tooslick on twitter, and not for someone who is specifically Marxist. The latter is for a historian of the interwar period, not for someone who is specifically a Marxist either.

Wanted to drop a line in the thread given that Marxism has been pretty influential on me and remains an interest of mine, though I try to be slippery about whether I'm a "Marxist" per se. I recently picked up Anthony Brewer's Marxist Theories of Imperialism which, given that it's 45 years old, seems to still do a pretty good job of outlining the major camps. and whose introduction is one of the better brief overviews of Marxism that I've encountered.

Regarding insurgency/counterinsurgency from this perspective, there's of course some of Rob Ashlar's stuff on Jihadism, like this piece: https://robashlar.substack.com/p/an-outline-political-economy-of-sahelian , but it's not intelligence/'tradecraft'-ey. A lot of the stuff he's doing right now I'd say is more biographical or primary source related though.
